US 85 Packages

Package C: Add General Purpose Lanes

This package adds one lane in each direction for all uses between C-470 and Norwood Drive, two lanes in each direction between Norwood Drive and N. Highlands Ranch Parkway, and one lane in each direction between N. Highlands Ranch Parkway and Meadows Parkway to the No-Action Package. A Regional Bus system is provided to service passengers between Castle Rock and Denver.

Highway - The final configuration north of North Highlands Ranch Parkway is 6 lanes and 4 lanes south of North Highlands Ranch Parkway. The existing lanes are reconstructed and re-paved. All lanes are designed to meet CDOT standards. The bus system will operate within the general purpose lanes. Park-and-Ride stations are located at Mineral Avenue, Highlands Ranch, Sedalia, Meadows Parkway, and Plum Creek Parkway.

Alternate Routes - The US 85 Alternate Route that is included in this package is Extend US 85. The improvements include extending and upgrading US 85 (Santa Fe) to a four-lane arterial between the existing Castlegate Drive and Plum Creek Parkway. This package also includes the I-25 Alternate Route: Crowfoot Valley Road.

Supporting Measures - Supporting Measures may include recommendations of the Railroad Relocation Study, Transportation Demand Management (TDM) measures, Transportation System Management (TSM) measures, and Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) measures. Enhancements/Mitigation measures are included as design elements, with consideration of the ecological issues as described in the Chatfield Basin Conservation Network Concept Plan.

Access Control Plan - Develop an access control plan for US 85 from C-470 to I-25. The plan provides recommendations on controlling access onto the highway. This may include consolidating existing access and adding frontage roads, or creating additional accesses.
