US 85 Build Alternatives

Highway

1. Add 1 General Purpose Lane in Each Direction - Add one lane in each direction for all uses to the No-Action Alternative

2. Add 2 General Purpose Lanes in Each Direction - Add two lanes in each direction for all uses to the No-Action Alternative

3. Add 1 Special Purpose Lane - Add one lane to be managed as a special purpose (HOV, HOT, or Toll lane) as described in Transportation Management. The special purpose that these lanes serve is enforced.

4. Add 1 Special Purpose Lane in Each Direction - Add one lane in each direction to be managed as a special purpose lane (HOV, HOT, or Toll lane) as described in Transportation Management.

5. Improve Existing 2 Lanes - Improve existing lanes to meet the appropriate CDOT standards (i.e. repave roadway, increase shoulder width, increase lane width).

6. Full Access Control - Access to US 85 is controlled through grade-separated interchanges. Minor roadways and driveways are consolidated along a frontage road.

7. Limited Access Control - Access to US 85 is minimally controlled. Various driveways and minor roadways are allowed to access US 85 and multiple access points in close proximity are consolidated with frontage roads.

8. Add New Interchanges - Reconstruct existing at-grade intersections into grade-separated interchange systems.

9. Frontage Road - A road that parallels US 85 to be used by local traffic.

10. Relocate Existing Railroad, use ROW for Highway - Relocate the existing railroad tracks (Union Pacific and Burlington Northern Santa Fe) and use the right-of-way for highway (either re-align US 85 or construct a new highway).
